In this Exchange— coordinated by the Independent Panel and Women in Global Health— you’ll hear about the impact of COVID-19 on gender imbalances in the management of the pandemic, on gender-based violence, and on women’s economic participation. The Right Honourable Helen Clark, Co-Chair of the Independent Panel, anchors this Exchange, together with Magda Robalo, Women in Global Health Advisor and High Commissioner for COVID-19 in Guinea Bissau, Anne Ngunjiri, Senior Advisor with LVCT Health Kenya leading the Gender and COVID-19 Project, and Abi Adams- Prassl Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Oxford. Srinath Reddy, President of the Public Health Foundation of India, and Dr. Tom Frieden, President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives. This was the first of a series of Independent Panel “Exchange” town-hall style virtual meeting, aimed at hearing from people working on the frontline of the pandemic. This event features the voices of nurses, and includes the Right Honourable Helen Clark, Co-Chair of The Independent Panel, Howard Catton and Annette Kennedy of the International Council of Nurses, and Barbara Stilwell, Executive Director of Nursing Now, together with nurses from around the world.
